The first question on the phone is usually how many square metres the place is. Yet two flats of the same size can differ completely: one is cleared and ready, the other has full cupboards, a kitchen with long-accumulated grease, or fine dust left from renovation. What sets the workload apart from square metres
A few distinctions help you describe the job yourself. Number of surfaces and condition of surfaces are not the same: wiping ten cupboard fronts is one job, cleaning inside them means shelves must be emptied first. Furnished versus empty changes the pace too; in a cleared flat, floors and cupboard interiors move without interruption. Type of dust is another split: ordinary household dust and plaster or screed dust are handled differently, and the latter usually needs staged work. That is why renovated places should be discussed as post-construction cleaning rather than standard home cleaning from the outset. If there is paint or mortar residue, the surface it sits on and the type of flooring or fittings are agreed beforehand; where the manufacturer's care instructions are unknown, a method is not assumed.
Upholstery: fabric and drying conditions
Two things matter most for a sofa: the fabric itself and how well the room dries. Care symbols on the label, delicate surfaces such as suede-like materials, linen blends, or covers that cannot be removed all affect the method; if there is no label or it is unreadable, say so early. On the drying side, it matters whether windows can be opened, whether air moves through the room, and whether the sofa can be pulled away from the wall. Checkpoints before and after

- Are fragile, personal and delicate items set aside; which rooms are excluded.
- For upholstery: can the label be found, can windows be opened, will anyone be inconvenienced during drying.
- After: overlooked corners in kitchen and bathroom, window frames, tops of doors.
- When items will be moved back onto cleaned floors.
Walking through the space together at the end
Once the work is done, going room by room with the team is the most practical way to see the result and raise anything still pending. Marks that look like scratches, dullness or permanent traces can be pointed out during this walk, but no firm diagnosis is given about their cause, since telling surface wear, staining and coating apart requires expert assessment on site.
