Is it coffee spilled on one cushion, or the general tiredness of a sofa set that has stood in the same room for years? These two situations are the first distinction someone in Söğütcük, a mahalle of Korkuteli, should describe on the phone. A single stained spot and a full refresh of a seating group are not the same job; the method, the time set aside and how the home can be used that day all depend on it.
Fabric, care label and drying conditions
Upholstery work starts with the fabric itself. Chenille, linen blends, leather and leather-look coverings behave differently, and without reading the manufacturer's care label it is not correct to call a method suitable for that fabric. If the label has been removed or is unreadable, say so in advance; the assessment is made on site and in some cases a water-based application may not be recommended.
Drying matters as much as the fabric. Can a window be opened, can air move through the room, is the sofa pushed against a wall? Damp fabric left in a closed, humid room can let odour settle in. Drying time depends on fabric thickness, filling and the ventilation available that day, so quoting a fixed number of hours in advance is not realistic. Full stain removal is not promised either: some dyes and old stains may have settled into the fibres. See the upholstery cleaning page for more.
One home, different surfaces, different tools
The cloth and solution used on a sofa will not give the same result on a kitchen counter or a window. In practice, three groups make the job easier to define: textile surfaces (sofa, rug, curtain), hard non-porous surfaces (tile, glass, stainless steel), and porous or coated surfaces (wood, lacquered cabinet fronts, natural stone). Wood and coated surfaces are handled separately, because the wrong product can leave a mark.
A visible mark on glass and damage to a coating cannot be told apart by eye, and running a fingernail over it to decide which side the mark is on is not a reliable test. Such marks are discussed before work begins, and the limits of intervention are agreed together.
Water, power and access on the day
Whether water and electricity are on directly determines if machine-based work is possible. In empty flats before a move, meters may be closed; check this beforehand. On the access side, who holds the key, whether the building entrance is open and whether parking is usable should be clear from the start. This is where empty flat cleaning and home cleaning differ in scope.
The eight services in brief
- Home cleaning: kitchen, bathroom, living areas.
- Office and workplace: work and shared areas; electronics and documents are not handled.
- Post-construction: coarse debris and fine cleaning treated separately.
- Empty flat: cabinet interiors, bathroom, kitchen, floors.
- Apartment and complex: stairs, landings, entrance.
- Villa: floor by floor; pool care not included.
- Upholstery and window cleaning: reachable surfaces.
Before and after checklist
- Find the sofa care label; report if missing.
- Note where stains are and roughly when they occurred.
- Check that windows open and the room can be ventilated.
- Confirm water, power and entry keys the day before.
- Move fragile items and cables away from the sofa.
- Feel the fabric for dampness afterwards and wait until it dries before sitting.
How should the room be aired after upholstery cleaning?
If possible open windows on opposite sides for airflow and pull the sofa slightly away from the wall. High humidity lengthens drying.
Can a sofa without a label be cleaned?
The decision is made on site. Fabric and filling are inspected; if unsuitable, the method is changed or the work is not recommended.
