A sensible order of work before moving in
In an empty flat, the order follows one logic: dirt travels from top to bottom and from inside outwards. Cupboard and drawer interiors are emptied and wiped first, then wet areas such as the bathroom and kitchen, and floors last. Break that order and you will end up mopping twice.
Windows usually come before floors, because dust from frames and sills falls downwards. In a flat that has just been painted or still holds construction residue, the sequence changes: moving to fine cleaning before coarse debris is removed is not efficient. What to expect from old stains on sofa fabric
If sofas are to be washed before the move, one thing should be agreed at the outset: whether a stain will come out cannot be promised in advance. Stains that have sat for a long time, or been set by heat or by a product applied earlier, may leave a lightened patch or a visible mark. Assuming a method is suitable without knowing the fabric label and the manufacturer's care instructions is not sound; finding the label is the most practical preparation you can make.
Naming the cause of a stain by sight alone is also not possible; two marks that look alike can behave differently. So it is more realistic to frame the expectation as "it may visibly lighten with a suitable method, and a permanent mark may remain" rather than "it will disappear". Should the flat be completely emptied before cleaning?
Where possible, yes. Empty cupboards and drawers make the scope clear; if items remain, say in advance which should be moved and which should not be touched.
What should I do after the sofas are washed?
Ventilate the room and keep covers or objects off the fabric until it is fully dry. Using it while damp increases the risk of marks and odour.
