When you book window cleaning, the real question is rarely "how dirty is the glass" but "how can anyone reach it". The eight services in brief

Where glass and frame access ends
Reachable glass is a surface the team can clean standing on the floor or at a safe step height, without leaning out of the window opening. Work that requires hanging from the façade or using ropes, scaffolding or similar equipment at height is outside this scope. Frames follow the same logic: sash profiles, hinge areas and bottom channels can usually be wiped, but if a seal is loose or a profile is cracked, nothing is forced and the condition is reported to you. If there are insect screens, agree in advance whether they will be removed; fragile or worn frames may be left in place.
Fragile items and cabinet interiors
Vases, ornaments, aquariums, plant pots and glassware near windows are best moved by the resident before work begins; this speeds things up and lowers risk. Where heavy or fixed pieces cannot be moved, that section may simply be left out of scope. Cabinet interiors are a separate decision: wiping the inside of a door is not the same job as emptying shelves and cleaning behind them. In a furnished home, interior work is usually limited to shelves that are already empty, whereas during empty-flat cleaning cabinet interiors can be included from the start. A short "do not open" list for locked drawers, valuables and medicine cabinets is the most practical approach.
Marks that appear after cleaning
Once the layer of dirt is gone, marks you never noticed can become visible. Some are residue or water marks and change with another pass; others sit in the surface itself as scratches, mineral deposits or differences in a coating, and wiping will not change them. Poking with a fingernail or trying a test at home is not a reliable way to tell these apart; the distinction needs expert assessment. If you believe the glass carries a film, a solar coating or a special finish, no aggressive method is applied without knowing the manufacturer's care instructions. The same principle applies to mirrors, shower enclosures and glossy countertops within home cleaning.
Checklist before and after
- Point out which windows allow access to both faces.
- Flag sashes that will not open or have broken handles.
- Move fragile items from windowsills; mention what cannot be moved.
- List cabinets and drawers that should stay closed.
- Say in advance if any glass has film or a special coating.
- Inspect the panes in daylight from two different angles.
- Show any remaining marks while the team is still on site.
